Will the City of Menifee-Police Department be enforcing the new stay at home curfew from 10pm-5am ? As the Mayor of Fresno stated ""We are not going to make criminals out of normally law-abiding citizens," she said. "We have got our hands full with crime real crime issues and this is not a law enforcement issue."

Joe they can use it as PC for suspicious activity. 🙂

Chief: What is your position on the so-called curfew "order?" I'd sure like to see a statement by "our" police chief analogous to that of Sheriff Bianco. Immoral or unconstitutional edicts, even laws, are a nullity. This is the time for you - and us - to take a stand!

What curfew? Lol

Do we get virtual officer visits too for alleged crimes?

On 11-24-20, the Menifee Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers that are violating the state’s hands-free cell phone law.

Under the law, drivers are not allowed to hold a phone or electronic communications device while driving. This includes talking, texting or using an app.

“Distracted driving is a serious issue, but one that can be easily solved simply by putting the phone down,” Chief Pat Walsh said. “That text, phone call, email or social media post can wait.”

A driver cell phone violation is subject to a $157 fine for the first offense.

Other distractions include eating, grooming, talking to passengers, using GPS, adjusting the radio, taking off a jacket, reaching for an object on the floor or navigating a vehicle’s in-dash touchscreen.

If you have an important phone call or need to program directions, pull over to a safe parking spot. Before driving, either silence your phone or put it somewhere you can’t reach.

Menifee Police Department will continuously enforce distracted driving and will hold additional distracted driving operations throughout the year.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I see drivers violating this law everyday along with Menifee P.D. officers maybe they should lead by example !

Thank you! People think they are all skilled in multitasking, but the research just doesn't support that. Please continue to enforce this law even after the grant money runs out. ❤️📵🚔

So you’re looking for illegal cell phone usage or that and all the other things you list as distracted driving as well

Spending grant money on DUI checkpoints right now is kind of pointless so I like this idea of going after these distracted cell phone users. If people put their phones down for a change they'll actually make that green light and not have to run the red which caused so much traffic.

Why is it 1 day, and why does it have to be advertised as such...i am actually surprised your not saying what intersection you will be at.

Which is their way of saying they will be enforcing curfew.

I think you are going to be very busy! Good luck!

What is Chief Pat Walsh position, on Governor Newsome's latest Executive Order? Sheriff Chad Bianco has clearly stated his position!

It strikes me funny, that none of Menifee police officers have completed the same, " POST ACADEMY " together? California has different, " Emergency Vehicle Operation " classes! Question: Have Menifee Police Department officers completed the same Emergency Vehicle Operations class? Have they all used a " Mobile Data Terminal " when while operating an emergency vehicle during Code 3 driving? Have all the officers utilize cell phone training during EVOC to be proficient to do so while responding code 3? Questions, every Menifee citizen should ask before you put your constituents and the lives of the State of California at risk! You see: you must practice what you preach! Cell phone use while driving is dangerous and while driving CODE 3 (LIGHTS AND SIRENS) is 10 more dangerous! Operating a ( MOBILE DATA TERMINAL) its a computer 🖥 folks: compounds it even more! Now let's toss in the use of a Radio and multiple frequency and its borderline insanity! Keep in mind that depending on the, Emergency Vehicle Operation Class that our new officers attended might not have touched on any of these circumstances! Leaving the city and its citizens at risk for potentially large out of court settlements!! Your fire services are contracted with calfire (State of California", whom receive, " standardized training from the same academy ". Unlike the officers of Menifee PD. Let's not forget < Calfire > took a 10% pay cut, when COVID-19 happened and when the City of Menifee found tooth and nails for the 1% sales tax to keep (DD). Ask yourself or better yet the city of Menifee, why it didn't ask it's Police Department and others to do the same? Did you loose your job or money 💰 during the COVID-19 Pandemic?

How about the endless racing/speeding nightly off of Goetz/Newport!!! NEVER see anything done! Countless people calling the non-emergency line and it’s yet to be addressed!

So eating and talking to passengers is now an infraction? We can't adjust our radio yet we have billboards everywhere? I understand the cell phone however I'm still snacking on my French fries, talking to my passengers and changing the station when a crappy song comes on.

So we can't talk to the people in our car while driving?🤔

I am a driver and these people drive me nuts they are in the fast lane going 65 then all of a sudden we are at 45 and of course as I am forced to get over and pass them it’s always the same looking down at a phone

My phone has an app. That self opens whenever I am driving. It says I am driving and takes a message.

This is great!! Thank you 💙💙💙💙

How bout instead the thousands of people that run a red light. Christ try prioritizing better.

Thank you 🙌🏽

Did I read that correctly? Menifee Police Department received funding to do THEIR JOB??? I thought us tax payers provide sufficient income for the PD to do their job. Maybe they should ask for more funding then to police the people that run Stop signs and red lights.

I agree with everything except the eating part. So, basically i can get a ticket for eating a hotpocket while driving? We need to have more dialogue on this because really any officer can use eating to give a ticket for distracted driving. This need to be explained before anything crazy happens.

Many thanks for your traffic enforcement in your community. Thank you for keeping us safe and educating the driving public. You are appreciated by so many. Stay safe and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loving families.

City of Menifee-Police Department. May I suggest have a link or portal for citizens to apply for extra traffic enforcement at intersections or stretches of highway that they feel may need such attention?

How about the officers not drive while using their cell phones and even better officers need to buckle up too. Don't be hypocrites.

Big thank you to City of Menifee-Police Department there was an incident last night near my residence and they responded within 5 minutes. Great response time, great follow up, professional job. This team is the real deal. Thanks for all you do in the community!

Thank you!! We in Menifee need all the help we can get.

That is a very nice thing to do. A big thanks to Murrieta dispatch.

Great job keep up the great work

Very nice! I haven't seen an announcement, but I'm GLAD to see you do not accept the unconstitutional, immoral, unscientific and tyrannical masking and social distancing edicts from Emperor Newsom. I do ask Chief Walsh: What is your position on the so-called curfew "order?" I'd sure like to see a statement analogous to that of Sheriff Bianco. Immoral or unconstitutional edicts, even if they were properly passed laws, are a nullity. This is the time for you - and us - to take a stand! Obey the highest law of the land, and its California version, too.

Thank You PD 💕

No masks, social distancing?

Thanks for sharing team M&M! Events like this reflect good leadership; makes me want to be a part of your success!

All I want to know is who supplied the BBQ???? 😆
