Between May 23 and June 5, the Menifee Police Department will have additional officers out enforcing seat belt laws. We are partnering with the Office of Traffic Safety to bring awareness to the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt.
According to the Office of Traffic Safety, "Of the 37,133 people killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2017, 47% were not wearing seat belts."
Also not driving the posted speed limit in school zones please!
Wow! Really you have time for that while the parents do the most infractions in dropping off their kids in an unsafe manner at school..???!
Please get red light runners on Newport at Calle Tomas and De Cortez 6:30 am also late afternoon just awful so glad some cars don't take off right away or they would be dead so scary. Slow down people......
So ridiculous to not wear a seatbelt.
I remember I was working traffic and criminal sept at Glendale Municipal Court Back when this law passed . I had to back then collect 17.00 for not wearing a seatbelt . Man I got yelled at . I was just the court clerk . Seatbelts Save Lives Wear Them.
Glad to hear it, Your doing a great job, stay safe and watch each other's 6's
Years ago it wasn't a thing to wear a seatbelt, but once it became mandatory it became a habit. I don't feel right if mine isn't on in the car.
If someone wants to risk it and not wear a seat belt, that’s on them. I thought it was common sense to wear a seat belt these days. I’d rather see some of the speed and traffic offenders get stopped. It’s getting bad out there.
I hope you catch alot of offenders and save some lives!!!
Don’t understand people that don’t wear their seatbelt! It does save lives!
Should have patrol today I had to call about a drive on Newport.
Hard to believe that nearly have of those dying in accidents do not buckle up ! My daddy might still be alive had he buckled up and the accident that killed him was a drunk driver who hit him head on and killed both my sister and my dad , he might have survived had he been wearing a seat belt. He was the passenger and my sister did not insist he buckle up ! The accident was not her fault but drunk driving coupled with not wearing seat belt is a recipe for disaster ! Please buckle up and for your sake and others don’t ever get behind the wheel and drive impaired. The life you save may be someone’s sister or dad… or child.. or mom.. or your own! 🥲
Sitdown Seatbelt Sshh…Stereo…4 S’s…

Good job officer Shy!
That photo shows what "Community Policing at it's Finest" is all about and could be a billboard across America to remind people that police do care and are there to serve and protect in whatever form it takes, even if it's just lending a simple helping hand to a woman who needs it, great job!
That's why we feel with you.
Awesome picture! Thank you City of Menifee-Police Department
Menifee PD and the Office of Traffic Safety would like to remind you to look out for bicyclists and motorcycles. Below are some of the applicable laws.
BICYCLISTS • Always wear a helmet. Helmets are required by law for anyone under 18, and they have been proven to reduce the severity of injuries in many collisions (CVC 21212(a)). • Bicyclists must travel in the same direction of traffic and have the same requirements as any slow-moving vehicle (CVC 21650.1). • Bicyclists should walk their bicycle through a crosswalk, as drivers are not expecting such a fast-moving object in a crosswalk. Crosswalks are extensions of a sidewalk. The vehicle code does not consider a bicyclist a pedestrian (CVC 467). • Utilize hand signals to indicate your intention to turn.
MOTORCYCLISTS: • Always wear a DOT approved helmet. Helmets have been proven to reduce injury and death for motorcycle riders (CVC 27803(a). • Ensure you have a valid M1 or M2 license or permit (CVC 12500(b)). Practice safe riding habits and consider taking a defensive motorcycle riding course.
DRIVERS • Wait for pedestrians to cross the street. Be courteous and patient (CVC 21950(a)). • Yield to any crossing guards at intersections (CVC 21100.3). • Stay off the phone, studies show that talking and texting while driving can make you more than 23 times more likely to be involved in a collision (CVC 23123(a), CVC 23123.5(a)). • No speeding. Speed limits are not suggestions (CVC 22350). • Make full and complete stops at red lights and stop signs, this includes for right hand, and left hand, turns (CVC 22450(a), CVC 21453(a), CVC 21453(b), CVC 21453(c)). • Look for bicyclists when backing up, turning at intersections or entering/exiting shopping centers. • Remember, the pillar between your windshield and front doors is a blind spot, #MenifeePDa#otsry to look around the pillar before proceeding.
