CHIEF KARRER

Chief Karrer began his public service career in 1994 when he joined the United States Marine Corps.  He graduated from the Golden West College police academy after being hired by the Hemet Police Department in January 2000 and in September of 2001 he lateraled to the Los Alamitos Police Department where he worked for 18 years.  During his career, he has served as a patrol officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Traffic Collision Reconstructionist, Patrol Corporal, Patrol and Investigation Sergeant, Support Services Captain, and Operations Captain.  Chief Karrer made his most recent move to the Menifee Police Department in November of 2019 where he oversaw the Operations Division.  

Chief Karrer is a member of ARCCOPS (Association of Riverside County Chiefs of Police and Sheriff), the California Police Chiefs Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He is also a board member of the Riverside County Chapter of TIP (Trauma Intervention Program) and SAFE Family Justice Center.   

Chief Karrer holds a Bachelor of General Studies with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Columbia College. He is a graduate of advanced law enforcement training courses including the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute. 

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

SHEILA LAWTON

Sheila Lawton is a seasoned Executive Assistant with over 25 years in the field. She has extensive experience with all administrative tasks, including scheduling and correspondence. Sheila has increased efficiency in several of her assigned roles, and is very effective at teaching new trainees, mentoring, and leading a department with very minimum direction.

She is an experienced Executive Assistant with management skills and an excellent combination of smarts, determination, interpersonal skills, and a great work ethic with a very strong undercurrent fueling the success of any organization or department.

In addition, to her duties, Sheila is also active in the community as a Special Olympics Coach for the City of Menifee. She is very passionate and enjoys working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, both in the community and at home.
